Energy Efficiency Projects
The Ecological University Coordinatorship of İzmir Bakırçay University carries out studies to detect energy loss in buildings and eliminate them in terms of architecture and construction, and thus to use energy efficiently. These studies were designed according to the ‘Environmental and Social Management Plan’ created within the scope of the KABEV project. In this context, window and facade changes will be made. The automation system designed in the central classroom project will enable monitoring the energy consumption of the buildings and efficiently utilizing energy via software supports and control units. Heat recovery systems were integrated in the central classroom project in order to provide heating and cooling in large lecture halls with less energy, by setting up two separate air handling units. This transition was achieved by the revision of existing mechanical projects. In addition, the automation setup for the H block, which is our main building, was detailed in the project. There are A, B, C, D blocks in the H building, and within these blocks there are the Faculties of Engineering and Architecture, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Health Sciences, Law, Arts and Sciences and Medicine.
The Zero Energy Building is being set up within the scope of the KABEV project. With this concept, which is planned to be built in the H block, it is aimed to achieve considerable gains in energy production and consumption.
Additionally, it is planned to store rain and ground water in a cistern system in our university, and thus the use of network water in green field irrigation will be prevented. Utilizing recoverable resources for water consumption will enable reducing the energy consumption and minimizing carbon footprint as well. When evaluated from an economic point of view, considerable savings will be achieved too.
